What Is a Dynamic Scrubber?

A dynamic scrubber (also called a tray scrubber or sieve-plate scrubber) is a wet gas-treatment unit containing horizontal perforated trays. Dirty gas passes upward through the liquid layer held on each tray, simultaneously absorbing soluble gases and capturing particulate matter. Unlike packed beds, the open tray design handles high dust loads without plugging, making it ideal for chemical plants, fertiliser factories, mining and metallurgy applications.

How It Works

Dirty gas enters the column from the bottom. As it bubbles through the liquid layer sitting on each perforated tray, soluble gases are absorbed and particles are captured by the liquid. Each tray acts as an independent scrubbing stage. Cleaned gas passes through a mist eliminator at the top and exits to atmosphere; spent liquid collects in the sump and is recirculated or discharged after treatment.
